Edifice foundation has expanded its Community Learning Center Project to Odisha now. We are now present in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Odisha.
Meet Shreejita who is our center in charge of Odisha. While working in the Azim Premji Foundation in Uttarakhand as a ‘teacher educator’ from 2017 to 2019, she realized under the big umbrella of ‘Education for all’, there are huge learning gaps among children of different economic backgrounds, different castes, different geographical areas. She left the job to be a teacher by choice.
She joined Edifice Foundation as a fellow for the project ‘Lahunipada Bridge Program’ in Odisha from November, 2021. New Learning center is run at Khuntgaon village in Sundargarh district where she is working as teacher cum center in charge. Shreejita started teaching English, Mathematics and Science to children of class 9th to class 12th.
In the first month, 18 children had been associated with learning center from five neighbouring villages. During the assessment of the children’s learning level, she revived the same experience that she had with the children of villages of Uttarakhand. She thinks that becoming an important part of this project gives her hope and direction to achieve educational equity and it gives her the opportunity to create an example of a teacher’s role as a changemaker.
